Officials told Reuters US military preparing for weeks of ongoing operations against Iran

Khaberni -   "Reuters" reported from U.S. officials that the U.S. military is preparing to carry out weeks of continuous military operations against Iran, should President Donald Trump issue an order to launch an attack.

According to the officials, the preparations include plans for extended operations if the diplomatic path fails or if tensions escalate further, indicating the seriousness of the options being considered within the U.S. administration.

The two officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of military planning, said that the ongoing preparations reflect a scenario of long-term operations, which increases the risks surrounding the existing diplomatic path between Washington and Tehran.

These developments come after talks held by U.S. and Iranian diplomats in Oman last week in an attempt to revive negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, following a significant U.S. military buildup in the region that raised fears of a new military action.

U.S. officials confirmed that the Department of Defense (Pentagon) decided to send an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East, including thousands of soldiers, fighter jets, and missile-equipped destroyers, as well as advanced offensive and defensive capabilities.

In a speech delivered to U.S. soldiers at a military base in North Carolina, Trump acknowledged that "reaching an agreement with Iran was difficult," adding: "Sometimes there needs to be fear. This is the only thing that can really address the situation."
