Khaberni - Petra University's football team achieved a new sports milestone by securing second place in the Leader’s Championship, organized by the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation in the city of Aqaba, with the participation of 24 public and private universities from across the kingdom.
His Excellency Dr. Raed Adwan, the Minister of Youth, crowned Petra University's team with the second-place trophy, in recognition of their outstanding performance and high competitive spirit shown throughout the championship.
The team managed to top their group after a strong journey, beginning with a draw against the Jordan University, followed by a series of victories over the World Islamic Sciences and Education University, Tafila Technical University, Yarmouk University, and Hashemite University, reaching the final match where they finished as runners-up after a tough face-off against Balqa Applied University.
This achievement adds to Petra University’s record of sports successes in extracurricular activities, as the university teams continued to shine during the academic year 2025/2026; with the basketball team winning the title of the Jordanian Universities Championship, and the football team securing second place for the second consecutive year in the Leader’s Championship, reflecting the continuous development in the level of sports performance and the ongoing support provided by the university administration to student activities, enhancing their presence and distinction in various sports events.
