Khaberni - While the crisis of the Egyptian artist Mahmoud Hegazi, accused of harassment and sexual assault on a girl inside one of Cairo's famous hotels, still dominates social media, his wife came forward to reveal new secrets about their escalating marital disputes.
Rana Tarek revealed in press statements that several months ago, Mahmoud Hegazi offered her to lift a travel ban in exchange for a sum of money, stating: "If I wanted him to remove the travel ban, I would have taken the deal he offered me a few months ago when he asked me for money in exchange for removing it."
Repeated affairs with women
She also explained that when she asked for a divorce due to his repeated affairs, he asked her for amounts in dollars in exchange for completing the divorce, which led her to continue taking legal actions in Egypt.
Rana Tarek confirmed that she never asked Mahmoud Hegazi to lift the travel ban, explaining: "I never asked him to remove the travel ban, and the one who is actually banned from traveling is his son."
Also, she mentioned that she has been living separately in Egypt with her son for five months, bearing all the expenses of living, education, and health care on her own, stressing that her husband does not inquire about the child nor does he provide for him.
Physical assault
Rana Tarek stated that she suffered a severe physical assault after confronting him about his affairs, saying: "I am staying in Egypt because of my assault case, to get my rights after he beat me severely when I confronted him about the relationships, and I have a session on February 21."
Moreover, she touched on that she stopped the process of him obtaining citizenship after discovering these relationships, after having helped him obtain a visa to America for five years, which caused the dispute between them to escalate.
Rana Hegazi also mentioned that she was in the United States, and that her husband had blocked her on social media, and he did not communicate with their son, despite her arranging an entry visa for him for five years, but he did not travel to see his child.
She continued: "I came to Egypt willingly and brought his son, hoping that he would wake up and change. Upon arriving, I discovered women's relationships, live TikTok sessions for hours, and suspicious activities."
Condition for seeing the child
Thereafter, Rana Tarek denied preventing her husband's family from seeing their son, stressing that she only required that the visits happen in public places after the assault incident, to ensure her and the child’s safety, stating: "I told them they are welcome in any public place... they refused and disappeared."
She further explained that Mahmoud Hegazi himself told her that he "has no boss," and his family complains about his temperament and behavior.
She announced that she recently obtained a court order for child support retroactively for a full year, which is the maximum legally, confirming that the order proves he has not spent on the child since his birth a year and a half ago, and added that the assault case was established before any other reports, and that he was charged and released on bail pending the case.
A statement of response from Rana Tarek came after the artist Mahmoud Hegazi posted on his official Instagram account, confirming his determination to maintain the travel ban on his son, writing "No matter what you do, I will not give up on banning my son's travel, whom I have been deprived of.. and until now my father and mother still haven't seen him at all since he was born, and he's been a year and a half.. and they have been in Egypt for 5 months."
He continued his speech, assuring his trust in the Egyptian judiciary, adding that his rights would be restored through the law. He also mentioned there are campaigns being funded to destroy him, vowing that he will not remain silent again.
Harassment and release on bail
As for his accusation of harassing a woman in one of the Egyptian hotels, the Egyptian security forces had arrested the artist a few days ago on charges of harassment and sexual assault on a woman in one of the hotels in Cairo, where a lady of Egyptian origin holding a foreign nationality filed a report with the security authorities, accusing Hegazi of sexually assaulting her inside the hotel.
last week, the competent investigation authorities in Egypt decided to release Hegazi on bail of 50,000 EGP pending the case he is accused in.
