Focusing on What Matters Can Enhance Your Life Here are Some Tips

Khaberni - When weekdays are filled with necessary routine tasks, it is easy for a person to lose sight of the bigger picture. They wake up, go to work or school, take care of their family affairs, and then repeat the same process the next day, which can make them feel somewhat routine and bored.

A new study published by Psychology Today has clarified that it is possible to change your lifestyle in order to have more pleasure than distress or frustration, as follows:

The joy of self-motivation
The study conducted by Richard Ryan, a co-researcher of one of the most famous theories of motivation in psychology known as the "Self-Determination Theory" from the Australian Catholic University, provided some useful suggestions.

It is likely that people are more motivated when they feel an internal or self-motivation.

However, he mentioned that to overcome those monotonous days that most people often go through, a person needs to go beyond constantly satisfying the desires of others.

Internal drivers of personality
Ryan explained that there is a theory called "Interaction of Personality Systems," which includes two main personality types: the "state" type and the "action" type, pointing out that the state type tends to excessive thinking and deep contemplation, especially when faced with life's pressures.

On the other hand, the action type person deals better with life's demands and responds effectively by identifying what needs to be done and then executing it.

The "Organic" model
Ryan also believes that the connection between these two theories lies in their similar focus on what is called the "organic" model in psychology.

He suggests that an individual's self-perception is what drives them to act.

Looking inward to move forward
Learning fundamental thoughts is useful, especially if a person tends to focus on the external situation rather than on taking action.

Perhaps the person doesn't realize that one reason for feeling extremely exhausted is the feeling of not having the time or ability to "break out of the rut."

Mindfulness
Researcher Ryan suggested here that practicing mindfulness might provide a path towards greater self-realization.

He stated that the optimal type of motivation in the "Self-Determination Theory" is self-motivation, where a person is able to act in ways that align with their sense of self. The person genuinely feels like themselves when they do what they love.

Practical benefits
In summary, combining the ideas of the "Self-Determination Theory" and understanding how people respond differently to external demands can achieve practical benefits in everyday life.

The path towards self-realization may not always be paved with the most exciting experiences and events, but it can at least make the experiences you go through more reflective of your personality.
