Spring of Irbid Attracts Thousands of Picnickers on the Last Friday before Ramadan

Khaberni - The tourist and natural sites in Irbid governorate witnessed a flow of thousands of picnickers on the last Friday before the advent of the holy month of Ramadan; citizens took advantage of the mild spring weather to spend their time in the embrace of the nature that characterizes the governorate at this time of the year.

Visitors were spread across a number of sites in the Northern Jordan Valley, Bani Kinana, Koura, and Northern Mazar, where these areas are known for their environmental diversity, alongside the presence of valleys, springs, waterfalls, forests, and wooded areas that wear a green mantle during the spring season, making them a primary destination for family outings and nature enthusiasts.

The Wastiyya forests and their surroundings also saw a noticeable turnout of picnickers, due to their extensive wooded spaces, tranquil natural views, proximity to residential clusters, and ease of access, enhancing their status as a favored destination for short trips and outdoor activities.

Municipality heads in these districts stressed the importance of collective efforts to maintain the cleanliness of natural sites, emphasizing that protecting environmental wealth is a shared responsibility between visitors and relevant authorities, noting that municipalities are intensifying cleanliness campaigns and working to provide containers and essential services at sites that witness a high number of visitors.

They called for wider municipal involvement in planning and implementing tourist projects, affirming that developing infrastructure and improving services at natural sites contribute to revitalizing domestic tourism, supporting the local economy, providing job opportunities for local communities, while preserving the environmental and aesthetic character of these areas and ensuring their sustainability.
