Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality carried out demolition work on Friday in Italian Street as part of the strategic project to develop the old neighborhoods of Amman, which includes the development of the downtown area.

The executive director of the project to develop the old neighborhoods of Amman, Mohammad Abu Zaitoun, stated that the works included the demolition of two buildings in Italian Street, aimed at creating new infrastructure for the area through the construction of sidewalks and rainwater drainage networks, and creating green urban spaces and voids that contribute to beautifying and developing the area, in addition to public squares and car parks.

He explained that the current demolition works are a continuation of the project, after two buildings were previously demolished at the same site, confirming that the work is proceeding with complete coordination between all the directorates and departments of the Greater Amman Municipality, to ensure the project’s success and achieve its joint objectives

He also mentioned that this project is considered one of Amman's touristic paths, as the Amman Municipality has launched the Amman Downtown Touristic Walkway.

It is noteworthy that the Amman Neighborhoods project aims to carry out traffic improvements and preserve heritage by rehabilitating old buildings and maintaining the architectural character of the area, which contributes to improving the quality of life for citizens, stimulating the local economy, encouraging investments, and developing commercial activities in the area.
