3 Jordanian Ministers in a Meeting to Resolve the Issue of Excess Fabric Scraps

Khaberni - On Wednesday, 3 Jordanian ministers held a crucial meeting to find solutions for the problem of excess fabric scraps from textile and fabric factories in the industrial city. 

During the meeting, the attendees agreed to conduct an economic feasibility study to establish a recycling plant for the scraps within two weeks. 

The ministerial team included the Minister of Local Administration Walid Al-Masri, Khaberni, and the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply
 Yaarub Qudah, and Minister of Environment
 Ayman Sulaiman, with the presence of the General Director of Customs Major General Ahmad Al-Akalik, the acting Governor of Irbid Khaberni Raed Al-Jaafari, and the President of Irbid Chamber of Commerce Mohammad Shouha, and the Mayor of Greater Irbid Imad Al-Azzam, and the Mayor of Ramtha Jamal Abu Abid, Director General of Irbid Electricity Company Engineer Bashar Al-Tamimi, among other officials and industrialists. 

The Minister of Local Administration Walid Al-Masri pointed out that it is no longer permissible to dump factory waste in the Al-Akider landfill, which has reached its maximum capacity, adding that it has been converted into an environmental landfill considered one of the best in the kingdom Khaberni. 

He stated that the ministry will grant the industrial sector an 8-month period to establish a factory to recycle fabric scrap outputs to fundamentally solve the problem, clarifying that recycling is the only solution to protect the environmental system from the immense pressure of industrial waste. 

On his behalf, Qudah emphasized the need to find a solution to this issue in a scientific and technical manner that serves the industrial sector and utilizes it as an economic and developmental pillar, calling on investors to find a permanent solution for fabric waste.
He explained that the government's vision is based on having the project start with investment from the private sector, to later evolve into a partnership with the government sector, ensuring it meets the full needs of Al-Hassan Industrial City, creates new job opportunities for Jordanians, and puts an end to the problem of excess fabric scraps.
Sulaiman stated that the government's approach focuses on supporting the investment and industrial sector that provides job opportunities for thousands of Jordanians, considering that today's meeting aims to resolve the recycling crisis of factory waste in alignment with private investment interests and government direction.
He emphasized the necessity of recycling mechanisms with global standards to ensure continuous production without compromising environmental safety, noting that establishing this factory is a strategic step toward promoting green economy, and the importance of disposing of waste in a safe and productive manner.
