Khaberni - After US officials confirmed that the Pentagon had issued instructions for a second carrier strike group to prepare to deploy in the Middle East, American President Donald Trump officially confirmed this.
A second strike group
The president shared news from the "Wall Street Journal" on his Truth Social platform, talking about the Pentagon's readiness to deploy a second aircraft carrier.
The White House master attached to the post with a comment: "The Pentagon is preparing to deploy a second aircraft carrier in the Middle East".
This came after US officials confirmed that the Pentagon had issued instructions for a second carrier strike group to prepare to deploy in the Middle East, as American forces prepare for the possibility of an attack on Iran, according to the "Wall Street Journal".
However, officials clarified at the same time that Trump has not yet issued an official order to deploy the second group, pointing out that plans may change, until the president posted the order on his platform.
One official said the Pentagon is preparing to send an aircraft carrier within two weeks, possibly from the East Coast of the United States, to join the "USS Abraham Lincoln" already in the region.
He also added that the aircraft carrier "USS George H.W. Bush" is completing a series of exercises off the coast of Virginia, but it may accelerate the completion of those exercises.
In light of this news, Iran reiterated its readiness and is monitoring suspicious movements.
And the commander of the Iranian naval force, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, in statements today Thursday said: "We monitor the movements of enemies around the clock".
He also considered that "what these enemies fear most is the Iranian people", according to him.
Additionally, he emphasized that "the priority of the navy lies in securing the economic security of Iranian maritime navigation".
Trump insists on continuing negotiations
It is noted that this carrier can launch and recover electronic attack aircraft, reconnaissance aircraft, and attack aircraft, including the aircraft carrier version of F-35 stealth fighters, according to a Navy official.
These developments came after Trump met yesterday, Wednesday, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House to discuss negotiations with Iran.
Trump also confirmed after the meeting that he prefers to reach an agreement with the Iranian side. He wrote in a post on his platform "Truth Social" after the meeting that lasted 3 hours: I insisted that negotiations with Tehran continue to see if it is possible to reach a deal.. If we can do that, I told Netanyahu that this would be my preferred option. And if we can’t reach an agreement, we'll see what happens".
The United States has strengthened its military power in the region in recent weeks, sending the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln from the South China Sea, along with more warships, air defense systems, and fighter squadrons.
While Trump has hinted more than once at the military option, he later described the first round of talks that took place last week between the American and Iranian delegations in Oman as very good. He also hinted at the possibility of reaching a consensus between the two countries on the nuclear file.
