Saudi Arabia 60 Decrease in Road Accident Fatalities

Khaberni  - Saudi Health Minister Fahd Al-Jalajil reported a sharp drop in health indicators over the recent years, notably a 60% reduction in road traffic fatalities, a 40% decrease in chronic disease fatalities, a 50% decrease in communicable diseases, a 30% decrease in fatalities from other injuries, and an increase in the average life expectancy to 79.7 years.

These advanced indicators coincide with the beginning of one of the largest phases of health transformation, with the transfer of three health clusters—representing 15% of the total clusters in the kingdom—to the Saudi Health Holding Company, in a move that involves more than 62,000 employees.

Institutional Transformation Enhances Sector Efficiency

Al-Jalajil explained that the current phase represents a real transition from the traditional model to a more flexible and sustainable institutional model, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of health clusters and enabling them to manage their operational processes according to high governance standards, which reflects on the quality of services provided to beneficiaries.

He indicated that the process of transferring all health clusters to the Saudi Health Holding Company will be completed by the end of 2027, considering that the Saudi healthcare model has become a "strategic tool to achieve higher quality of life," and a practical representation of the targets of Vision 2030.

Fewer Years of Suffering from Illness

The Health Minister revealed the health system's success in reducing the number of disease years for citizens by three years, asserting that this achievement is the result of integrated efforts among various entities working in the health sector, representing a shift towards a more mature phase of preventive and comprehensive healthcare.

In a tweet from his account on the platform «X», Al-Jalajil described the Saudi health model as "globally inspiring," noting that the Saudi healthcare model forum revealed impactful stories reflecting the extent of transformation in the sector, and the role of development in empowering national cadres and improving service quality.

He said: «We are moving towards an integrated health model, achieving a society that enjoys health and quality of life, and supports the implementation of Saudi Vision 2030 targets.»
