Wars Choosing AlToubassi for AlJarrahs Seat is Against the Law

Khaberni - Rula Al-Hroub, the general secretary of the Labor Party, questioned the decision by the Independent Election Commission to choose Hamza Al-Toubassi to occupy the seat of the expelled MP Mohammed Al-Jarrah, considering that Al-Toubassi is expelled from the party and legally does not have the right to hold a seat in the parliament as a representative of it.

During a press conference held by the party, Al-Hroub expressed doubt about the interpretation of the election law clauses applied in this case, affirming that a person who resigns or is expelled from the party does not legally have the right to occupy the parliamentary seat on behalf of the party.

Al-Hroub refuted the reasons on which the decision to fill the seat was based, explaining that Al-Jarrah did not obtain his parliamentary seat as a candidate for the "youth quota", but rather because he topped the party list and came first in it.

She pointed out that the party list system does not allocate specific seats for youth or women separately, but legally requires the inclusion of a youth and a woman among the first five names in the list order only.

Al-Hroub emphasized that the Labor Party will not back down from demanding its legal rights, confirming the continuation of working through all available means until the party obtains the electoral seat it deserves according to its legal vision of the party list results.
