Before Your Ramadan Fast Early Sleep Resets Your Body Clock

Khaberni - As Ramadan approaches, many start to think about how to prepare their bodies, and early sleeping is at the top of the list of recommended habits to adopt before the month begins.

Studies indicate that moving the bedtime earlier helps the body gradually adapt to the timings of Suhoor and Fajr, and reduces feelings of fatigue during the fasting hours.

Dr. Hemat Mustafa, a sleep disorders consultant at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, told Al Ain News that "when a person gets used to sleeping early, the quality of deep sleep improves, which positively reflects on energy levels and concentration during the day. It also helps regulate the secretion of hormones related to hunger and satiation, such as cortisol and melatonin, reducing episodes of lethargy and headaches that some experience in the first days of Ramadan."

The impact of early sleep is not limited to physical activity only; it extends to supporting the immune system and improving mood, as well as helping in adjusting the body's biological clock, making the transition to the Ramadan fasting and staying up pattern less shocking to the body, as Dr. Hemat explains.

Dr. Hemat confirms that starting this habit a week or two before Ramadan may be a simple step, but an effective one, to ensure a more comfortable and balanced fast without fatigue or sleep disruption.
