Khaberni - The Syndicate of Restaurant, Cafe, and Entertainment Venue Owners in Lebanon has called on all owners of tourist establishments and restaurants to adopt the name "Lebanese coffee" instead of "Turkish coffee" on food and drink menus.
The statement said: "Starting from the Syndicate's commitment to preserving the Lebanese identity, especially in the tourist and restaurant sector which represents the cultural and civilized face of Lebanon, the Syndicate invites all owners of tourist establishments and restaurants and cafes to adopt the name Lebanese coffee instead of Turkish coffee on food and drink menus and in various promotional and advertising materials, and to generalize this naming in daily communication with customers."
The statement added: "The coffee prepared in this style has become part of the daily Lebanese heritage, and an element of our cultural identity that we are proud of and keen to highlight in front of customers and tourists."
The Syndicate confirmed that "this invitation comes within the framework of enhancing national distinction in the hospitality sector, in a way that aligns with highlighting Lebanon's cultural and tourist uniqueness."
It also appealed to "all colleagues to respond to this direction", considering that "unifying the naming is a fundamental step that reflects pride in the national identity and Lebanese heritage."
