Washington Prepares a Second Attack Aircraft Carrier Before Sending it to the Middle East

Khaberni - The US Department of Defense "Pentagon" has alerted a second attack aircraft carrier group to be ready for deployment in the Middle East, as the US military prepares for a potential attack on Iran, according to the Wall Street Journal citing three US officials.

US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he is considering sending a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East in preparation for military action if negotiations with Iran fail.

One official stated that the deployment order could be issued within hours.

Officials warned that Trump has not yet issued a formal order to deploy the second carrier, and plans might change.

The carrier is scheduled to join the "USS Abraham Lincoln," which is already in the region.

One of the officials mentioned that the Pentagon is preparing to deploy an aircraft carrier within two weeks, likely launching from the east coast of the United States.

The aircraft carrier "USS George H.W. Bush" is completing a series of exercises off the coast of Virginia, and these exercises may be accelerated, according to the officials.

Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Wednesday to discuss negotiations with Iran. Details of a possible second round of talks with Iran have not yet been finalized, according to the officials.

Trump stated in a social media post after the meeting that he prefers to reach an agreement with Iran.

He added "I insisted on continuing negotiations with Iran to see if an agreement can be concluded or not. If possible, I have informed the prime minister that this would be the preferred option. If not possible, we will have to see what the outcome will be."
