A large Israeli force penetrates into the countryside of Quneitra in Syria

Khaberni - An Israeli force consisting of more than 60 personnel on Wednesday penetrated the village of Ufania in the northern countryside of Quneitra province in southern Syria, as part of the ongoing Israeli violations on Syrian territory.

The Israeli force launched flares in the sky of the village before shelling several villages with artillery, according to the official Syrian channel "Al-Ikhbariya".

The channel explained that the force was accompanied by 15 military vehicles before it withdrew towards the occupied territories, after several hours of its incursion into the village of Ufania.

The official channel also said that the Israeli army targeted the outskirts of the villages of Jabata Al-Khashab and Ufania and the surroundings of Tel Ahmar in the northern countryside of Quneitra, coinciding with its incursion into the village of Ufania.

Bombing a cemetery
Also on Wednesday, the Syrian Civil Defense stated that Israel bombed a village cemetery in Quneitra province in the south of the country.

It mentioned - in a statement via its Telegram account - that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the village of Al-Samadaniya in Quneitra province - late on Tuesday - without recording any casualties.

In the past two days, the Israeli army arrested 4 young men in the countryside of Quneitra, one of whom was arrested while herding sheep, and the others while they were collecting wood.

These violations occur despite the announcement of establishing a communication mechanism between Syria and Israel on January 6, supervised by the US, to coordinate the exchange of information, reduce military escalation, engage diplomatically, and explore trade opportunities.

The Israeli army continues - on an almost daily basis - to execute land incursions, launch artillery bombardments especially in the countrysides of Quneitra and Daraa, arrest citizens, set up checkpoints to inspect passers-by and interrogate them, in addition to destroying crops.

Since 1967, Israel has occupied most of the area of the Syrian Golan Heights and took advantage of the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, to declare the collapse of the disengagement agreement in effect between the sides since 1974, and occupied the Syrian buffer zone.
