Meteorology Temperatures Higher Than Average in February and March

Khaberni - The Meteorological Department expects that temperatures will be higher than their general average during the months of February and March, according to the latest updates on the seasonal forecasts for temperature and rainfall for the two months.

The Meteorological Department stated in a statement that the results of the seasonal models indicate that the average temperature in February 2026 is expected to be around 3 to 4.5 degrees Celsius higher than the general average in most regions, with a probability expectation of up to 100%.

It added that outputs from the European model ECMWF indicate that the expected rainfall totals for February 2026 are likely to be below their general monthly averages in most areas of the kingdom, with a probability expectation ranging between 60%–70%, and expected to be slightly below their general averages in parts of northern and central kingdom, with a probability close to 40%.

It clarified that forecasts indicate that the average temperature during the month of March 2026 will be about 1 to 2 degrees Celsius higher than its general average in most areas of the kingdom, with a probability expectation close to 60%.

It pointed out that the outputs regarding rainfall indicate that the expected rainfall totals for March 2026 are likely to be slightly below their general monthly averages in most areas of the kingdom, with a probability expectation ranging between 50% to 60%.

It noted that the seasonal forecasts are long-range climate predictions that reflect the general trend compared to general climate averages, and do not necessarily mean the absence of rainy periods or the kingdom being affected by active weather conditions during this period.

It added that these predictions are not linked to the short-term or medium-term weather forecasts that the department issues daily or weekly.
