The Arab League Council invites Trump to fulfill his commitments to prevent the annexation of the West Bank and achieve peace

Khaberni - The Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, on Wednesday, asked the American President Donald Trump to fulfill his commitments made to the Arab and Islamic States, including preventing the annexation of the occupied West Bank, and achieving peace and stability and security in the region.

The Council in its resolution issued at the conclusion of the extraordinary session at the level of permanent representatives, which was held at the headquarters of the Arab League under the chairmanship of the United Arab Emirates, and with the attendance of the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestinian Affairs and the Occupied Arab Territories at the Arab League, Ambassador Fa'id Mustafa, called on Argentina not to move its embassy to Jerusalem, an act that would cause harm to the Argentine-Arab relations at all levels.

It considered that Argentina's transfer of its embassy to Jerusalem constitutes a serious violation of international law, and related United Nations resolutions regarding Jerusalem, and an aggression on the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Council condemned the aggressive decisions recently undertaken by Israel, the occupying power, aimed at intensifying plans and policies of annexing lands in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and its colonial expansion, forced displacement, demolition of houses, seizing of private and public lands, and transferring the municipal powers of Hebron to the occupation, which includes apartheid in Hebron, and violating the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque.

The Council underscored the Arab unwavering and strong support that the rights of the Palestinian people are inalienable, foremost among them the right to self-determination, the right of return, as well as the right of the State of Palestine to full sovereignty over its land based on the borders of June 4, 1967, including its holy sites, natural resources, water, and airspace, and its capital, East Jerusalem.

The Council expressed its outright rejection of the partitioning of Palestinian land, and attempts to separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank including East Jerusalem, considering the political and geographical unity of the land of the State of Palestine a constant among Arab constants, and supporting the assumption by the State of Palestine of its full responsibilities over all its territories with Arab and international support on the basis of the commitment to the Palestine Liberation Organization as the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people and its political program and international commitments based on the principles of one state, one law, and one legitimate weapon, and rejecting the marginalization of the organization in determining the present and future of the Palestinian people.

The Council condemned decisions, legislations, and practices of the Israeli occupation against UNRWA including the demolition and closure of its headquarters and schools, and attempts at its liquidation, and called for securing the necessary political, legal, and financial support for the agency and its activities on a permanent and sustainable basis, enabling it to continue carrying out its mandate and role in its five operational areas towards Palestinian refugees.

The Arab League Council expressed its outright rejection of all forms of displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, and attempts to change the demographic composition in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank including East Jerusalem, seeing this as a severe violation of international law, relevant international legitimacy resolutions, and undermining the embodiment of the independence of the State of Palestine, and of efforts to achieve a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace.

The Council requested the international community, and the Security Council, to exert pressure and take deterrent punitive actions against Israel, the occupying power, to stop and cancel annexation plans and practices, considering these actions international crimes that jeopardize peace and security and stability in the region and around the world.

The Council urged international and national justice mechanisms to pursue and hold accountable Israeli officials for international crimes and serious violations of international law represented by decisions and practices by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people and their land and properties and holy sites.

The Council condemned the Israeli aggressions against the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied city of Hebron, represented in its continued division and undermining the freedom of worship there and access to it, ongoing invasions, and attempts to defile and change its features and separate it from its Palestinian environment within the operations of Judaizing the heart of Hebron, asking the international community to defend its decisions, including relevant UNESCO resolutions related to the city of Hebron including the Ibrahimi Mosque,
