Khaberni - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said: The recent Israeli government decisions in the West Bank require a decisive stance from the American administration and the international community because they obstruct President Trump's efforts, violate international law, and undermine the institutions of the Palestinian state and the two-state solution.
The President added in his speech at the press conference held with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, in the Norwegian capital Oslo, today, Wednesday, that the State of Palestine is working to ensure the continued provision of government services to our people in the Gaza Strip, through effective coordination between the Palestinian government institutions and the Palestinian Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip during the transitional phase.
Here is the president's speech:
I am pleased to be in Oslo today and to meet with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, after my important meeting with His Majesty King Harald V, in a state visit, which expresses the depth of the friendship and cooperation relations that unite Palestine and Norway.
I express our deep appreciation to Norway for its courageous and principled stances, foremost among them recognizing the State of Palestine, its historic and leading role in sponsoring peace efforts since the Oslo Accords in 1993, leading the AHLC, and providing support for building the institutions of the State of Palestine and humanitarian aid to our people.
We discussed with the Prime Minister the latest developments in Palestine and the region, and ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly peoples and countries.
We also discussed the recent Israeli government decisions in the West Bank aimed at deepening the annexation of Palestinian territories, expanding settlements, affecting the city of Hebron and the Ibrahimi Mosque, in addition to settler terrorism, and seizing Palestinian funds exceeding 4 billion dollars.
These serious violations require a decisive stance from the American administration and the international community, because they obstruct President Trump's efforts, violate international law, and undermine the institutions of the Palestinian state and the two-state solution.
In this regard, I informed the Prime Minister about the stages of implementing President Trump's plan and the Security Council Resolution 2803, both of which we welcomed in order to establish a ceasefire and alleviate the suffering of our people in Gaza and move to the recovery and reconstruction phase.
In this context, we are working to ensure the continued provision of government services to our people in the Gaza Strip, through effective coordination between the Palestinian government institutions and the Palestinian Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip during the transitional phase, with an emphasis on the administrative, legal, and security linkage between the institutions of the one state in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and according to the principle of one system, one law, and one legitimate weapon.
In this regard, we welcome the operation of the Rafah crossing with the administration of the Palestinian Authority cadres and the presence of European observers.
We look forward to all parties fulfilling their responsibilities to implement the provisions of the second phase, which requires the handover of Hamas's weapons according to the agreement with the mediators, and the full withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, leading to the restoration of stability and security and enabling the State of Palestine to fully regain its responsibilities, affirming that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine and that we reject any guardianship, or any duality in laws or systems between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in the same homeland.
In conclusion, we confirm our keenness to continue joint coordination with the Kingdom of Norway and partners, in order to implement the outcomes of the New York Declaration and achieve peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, and thus end the occupation, so the sovereign independent State of Palestine can live side by side in peace and good neighborliness with the State of Israel.
