Police Announces Additional Investigation with Netanyahus Office Chief

Khaberni - The Israeli police announced that Tsahi Braverman, the chief of staff to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will undergo an additional investigation during a session held by the Magistrate’s Court in the city of "Rishon LeZion" today, Wednesday, to discuss the extension of the restrictive conditions imposed on him.

A police representative informed the court that the investigation in the case is still ongoing, and that additional investigative steps need to be carried out before re-interrogating Braverman, pointing out that they are waiting for a decision from the Central Court regarding the delivery of raw materials from a media interview broadcasted by “Channel Kan 11”.

The session ended without a decision being made, while the judge announced that he would inform the parties of his decision later.

The police confirmed that the extension of the restrictive conditions, which include barring Braverman from the Prime Minister's office and preventing him from leaving the country, is necessary to prevent obstruction of the investigation and to expedite procedures.

In turn, Braverman's lawyer, who is a candidate to become the Israeli ambassador to Britain, stated that the measures taken are intended to thwart his appointment, arguing that the travel ban is not based on legal justifications or real concerns of obstructing the investigation.

It is worth mentioning that the court had extended the restrictive conditions imposed on Braverman last month as part of the investigation into a case known in the media as "the overnight meeting", while the Israeli government approved his appointment as ambassador in London last December.

The case dates back to statements made by the former spokesperson for the Prime Minister, Eli Feldstein, who said that an overnight meeting took place between him and Braverman, during which Braverman offered to intervene to sabotage a security investigation that was being conducted against the Prime Minister's office, a claim denied by Braverman.
