Britney Spears Sells Her Music Rights

Khaberni - American pop star Britney Spears has sold the exploitation rights of her music to the independent music publishing company (Primary Wave), in the latest deal an artist has made to sell their rights.

The entertainment site "T.M.Z" first published the news, based on legal documents it obtained, saying that the owner of the songs (Oops... I Did It Again) and (Toxic) signed the contract on December 30.

The site quoted sources saying that the deal's value is "close" to that of the agreement made by Canadian singer Justin Bieber, which was said to have reached $200 million for selling his music rights to the company Hypgnosis in 2023.

A knowledgeable source said that the news of the Spears and Primary Wave deal is accurate. Further details have yet to be disclosed.

Primary Wave, which includes artists like Whitney Houston, Prince, and Stevie Nicks, has not yet responded to a request for comment. Spears has not yet commented publicly.

In doing so, Spears follows in the footsteps of other artists including Sting, Bruce Springsteen, and Justin Timberlake who have made similar deals to financially benefit from their work.

Spears (44 years old) is one of the most successful pop artists of all time, topping music charts worldwide since her debut with the song "Baby One More Time" in 1998.

The site "T.M.Z" noted that the deal includes songs like "You Drive Me Crazy" and "Circus."

Spears' ninth and last album "Glory" was released in 2016.

In 2021, a court terminated the conservatorship that had controlled Spears's personal life, career, and an estimated fortune of about $60 million by her father Jamie Spears for 13 years.
