Greater Amman Municipality Installs Surveillance Cameras at Road Junctions  Names and Pictures

Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality has begun implementing the first phase of a project to install 5,500 smart surveillance cameras in various areas of the capital, as part of a plan aimed at elevating traffic monitoring levels and achieving smart management of traffic flow, with the project expected to be fully implemented by 2026.

The current phase included installing cameras for monitoring speed and violations at several locations, including Al-Matal Street from Gargash roundabout towards Yasmin, after Um Al-Naaj bridge towards Amman, after Al-Nesr signal towards Baccalaureate, after the UNRWA building first descent of Abu Al-Sous in Bayader Wadi Al-Sir, at Ain Ghazal descent, and after Al-Marbat bridge towards Raghdan.

The Executive Director of Traffic at the Greater Amman Municipality, Engineer Mohammad Jadoua, emphasized that the project represents a qualitative leap in the city's technological infrastructure, noting that the number of cameras could increase according to need. He stressed that the cameras' purpose is not only to collect fees or monitor violations but also includes improving traffic management as part of the vision of "Amman as a smart city".
