Khaberni - The Russian Ambassador to Jordan, Gleb Desyatnikov, expressed his country's expectations for an increase in trade cooperation with Amman following the entry into force of the visa exemption agreement between the two countries.
The Ambassador stated in an interview with the Russian agency "Novosti": "We now expect an increase in the flow of Russian tourists to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the development of trade links and human communications. Of course, we are counting on the growth of mutual trade exchange, especially in the field of agriculture."
The Russian-Jordanian government agreement on mutual visa cancellation came into effect on December 13, 2025. The Ambassador noted that the launch of an additional flight on the Amman-Moscow route by the Jordanian national carrier is an indicator of the enhanced bilateral interaction.
The diplomat clarified that the decision to cancel visas was driven not only by potential economic benefits but also by the prospects of enhancing trust between Russia and the Kingdom.
The Ambassador confirmed that the signing of the visa exemption agreement in August 2025 is a mutual gesture of goodwill, aimed at bringing our peoples and our two countries closer together.
The agreement allows Russian citizens to visit Jordan without a visa for a period of up to 30 days per visit, provided that the purpose of the visit is not employment or commercial activities or studying or permanent residence. The total duration of stay in the country must not exceed 90 days in any single calendar year. Jordanian citizens enjoy similar rights when visiting Russia.
