Khaberni - Documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice showed that financier Jeffrey Epstein mentioned in correspondence that he had fulfilled a dream for the late British physicist Stephen Hawking during the latter's visit to his island.
The Russian agency "Novosti" reported that after examining documents from the U.S. Department of Justice, a letter from Epstein dated 2017 was found, where Epstein wrote that Hawking had dreamed of underwater diving during a visit to his private island.
Epstein wrote: "When Stephen Hawking came to my island and said his dream was to dive, I taped his head with duct tape to a high-backed chair and put him in a private submarine, and it was very enjoyable."
Media outlets also mentioned that Hawking's name appeared in Epstein's file more than 200 times, which re-highlighted the possibility of a strong relationship between them. The documents include multiple emails indicating communication by people close to Epstein concerning Hawking.
The files caused crises abroad after revealing new details about Epstein's relationships with major figures in politics, finance, business, and academia.
Epstein was found dead in a cell in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial. Although his death was officially ruled a suicide, it sparked conspiracy theories that persisted for years, including some theories promoted by Trump himself among his supporters during his 2024 presidential campaign.
