Canada Deaths Due to Shooting at School and Home

Khaberni - Canadian authorities said, early Wednesday morning, a shooting incident at a school in British Columbia resulted in the deaths of 8 people, including the suspect, and two others were found dead at a home believed to be related to the incident.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated that more than 25 people were injured, two of them critically, following the shooting incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School.

It is noted that school shootings are rare in Canada.

The small town of Tumbler Ridge, with a population of about 2,400, is located more than a thousand kilometers north of Vancouver, near the border with Alberta.

The Canadian Police said in a statement: "As part of the initial response to the shooting, the police entered the school to determine the source of the threat. During the search, officers found several victims. A person believed to be the shooter was also found dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted wound."

They continued: "Six additional people were found dead inside the school, not including the suspect. Two individuals were airlifted to the hospital after sustaining serious or life-threatening injuries, while a third victim died during transport to the hospital."

Earlier on Tuesday, the Peace River South School District had announced the temporary closure and securement of the high school and Tumbler Ridge Elementary School.
