Khaberni - Fawzi Abu Danneh, the Director General of the Department of Antiquities, stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Antiquities have begun taking necessary measures to rebuild the damaged wall in Al-Karak Castle, due to the damages caused by the recent rains in Al-Karak Governorate.
Abu Danneh, in a statement to "Al-Mamlaka" on Tuesday evening, added that work is ongoing to tender a contract for the restoration of the wall as soon as possible, as part of a comprehensive plan that includes a project to rehabilitate the castle internally, execute public safety-related activities at the site, and develop the visitor experience.
He explained that a number of local and international experts have been consulted to verify the structural condition of the castle and address any existing issues, noting that stones washed away by water around the castle have been recorded and will be relocated and reused in the construction and rehabilitation works, preserving the historical character of the site.
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan stated on Tuesday that necessary measures had been taken to rebuild the wall of Al-Karak Castle, emphasizing that one of the top priorities of the Ministry of Tourism in the coming months is to complete the studies and restore the damaged wall.
