Khaberni - The Karak Governor, Qabalan Al-Sharif, confirmed that government projects in the province were completed as a result of continuous and precise follow-up since the first government visit on October 15, 2024, which was dedicated to assessing the needs of citizens and developmental projects.
Al-Sharif said on Tuesday through "Al-Mamlaka" that Prime Minister Jafar Hassan visited the Karak governorate four consecutive times, along with periodic visits by relevant ministers, to follow up on the execution of the projects that had been promised.
He pointed out that a number of previously stalled projects have made significant progress, including the sports city project that had been on hold, where the promised stages have been completed, in addition to the Karak complex operating at 100% capacity after being inactive for seven years.
He explained that the abandoned Ministry of Finance building, which had been vacant for over 10 years, was allocated to Mutah University to serve as a clinical center benefiting the local community, noting that the project has reached its final stages in preparation for the start of construction work and service provision.
He further clarified that numerous road projects that had been halted were completed, along with progress in a tourism project, and immediate responses to damage caused to the infrastructure by the recent exceptional weather condition, where field tours were conducted for the concerned ministers and urgent decisions were made to address the damages.
Al-Sharif added that the Ghor road suffered a cut about 70 meters wide and 15 meters deep, and an immediate tender worth two million dinars was issued to rehabilitate the road and commence the work, in addition to addressing damages in other areas.
He affirmed that completion rates reached 100% in several projects, thanks to the continuous follow-up by the specialized ministers, primarily the Ministers of Public Works, Local Administration, and Tourism, who were consistently present in the field.
He further mentioned that the project to develop downtown Karak is in its final stages, while the Wadi Al-Mujib road project has reached the final tender stages in preparation for its execution.
In terms of development, Al-Sharif explained that the government is addressing issues of poverty and unemployment through investment support, pointing out the expansion of the Chinese company "Genshing," which has grown from one factory during the previous visit to 12 factories currently.
He indicated that the industrial expansion required additional energy, with an amount of 7 million dinars allocated for the construction of energy stations to meet the factories' needs, in exchange for the company's commitment to provide about 2000 future job opportunities, in addition to approximately 1000 existing jobs.
Al-Sharif added that the previous government visit saw the announcement of incentives for Prince Hussein bin Abdullah Industrial City, which was operating 29 factories at the time. Following the visit, 10 new factories began operations, with 5 under construction and 7 waiting to complete procedures, bringing the number of factories that benefitted from the incentives to 22 factories.
Al-Sharif confirmed that these investments will provide about 400 new job opportunities, with an investment value estimated at about 27 million dinars.
