Khaberni - The Economic Court in Alexandria, northern Egypt, acquitted Marwa Yousry, known in the media as "Mubarak's Daughter" on social media platforms, of the money laundering charges attributed to her.
The Public Prosecution had referred the accused to trial in case no. 1473 of 2025 for first-instance economic misdemeanors in Montazah, accusing her of laundering an amount of 75,000 Egyptian pounds, which the prosecution stated was derived from an original crime involving slander and defamation against the victim, Egyptian artist Wafaa Amer, and violation of privacy by publishing photos and personal information about her without her consent.
The prosecution's investigations indicated that the accused had invested these amounts received through social media platforms in buying gold items, as part of the implementation of the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
After reviewing the case and hearing the defense of the accused, the court concluded that there was insufficient evidence to directly and definitively link the financial amounts to the alleged original crime, and therefore acquitted the accused of the charge attributed to her in this lawsuit.
In recent years, Marwa Yousry became famous with accounts on TikTok and other platforms where she promotes the idea that she is “the daughter of former President Hosni Mubarak,” contrary to the truth. She had previously faced several cases related to slander, defamation, and libel against various individuals, including public figures and artists.
The acquittal of content creator Marwa Yousry in this lawsuit pertains only to the money laundering charge and does not affect any other potential ongoing or adjudicated cases involving slander and defamation.
