Khaberni - President of the University of Jordan, Nadhir Obeidat, said on Tuesday that the Cabinet’s decision to pay off the obligations of the public universities will have a positive impact on the academic, educational, and research activities in universities and improve their outcomes.
He added that the decision will enhance the infrastructure in the universities.
He pointed out that the University of Jordan's budget for the year 2026 shows a significant financial improvement, as it has virtually no debt.
He explained that the university has been around for over 60 years, efforts have been made to improve the lecture halls, and work will be done on its infrastructure.
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said on Tuesday that the Cabinet will decide to pay more than 100 million dinars in obligations to the public universities as part of a plan that the government commits to to settle all the accumulated arrears from the past 10 years, ensuring no arrears are left unpaid.
