Khaberni - Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan has achieved a distinct regional accomplishment by obtaining first place in the Google Gemini Pro Challenge over the Middle East and Turkey. The challenge, initiated by Google, saw broad participation from universities and students from several Arab and regional countries, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, and Turkey. This achievement was made by the GDG – Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan team, which emerged from the initiatives of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology and represented the university and Jordan with high efficiency, confirming the leading role of the university students in employing cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies in innovative educational and practical tracks.
This victory is a culmination of the university's efforts in empowering the student community and enhancing the culture of innovation and digital transformation. The team's participation was based on leveraging the advanced capabilities of Google Gemini Pro to support students academically and professionally, aligning theoretical knowledge with practical application to meet job market demands. The challenge witnessed the participation of 60 student communities from Google developer communities, while the number of students participating and impacted by this initiative in Jordan exceeded 7,000, reflecting the broad impact of the initiative on the national level.
The university's win was the fruit of the efforts of the GDG Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan team led by student Huda Bani Mustafa, with support and organization from the Software Engineering Department and its head, Dr. Wael Al-Ziadat, alongside the teamwork and dedication demonstrated by the university community. These contributions enhanced the university's regional status and cemented its role in spreading the culture of artificial intelligence among Jordanian youth. This excellence was crowned by Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan receiving the first-place award, which includes a scientific visit to Google's offices in Dubai to explore the latest global technologies within a system of leadership and innovation.
