Khaberni - The Dean's office of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan organized a workshop titled “Empowering University Students and Graduates with Awareness Skills about the Harms of Smoking and the Importance of Following Healthy Lifestyles”, in collaboration with the Cancer Control Office at the King Hussein Cancer Center, on the university campus.
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Alaa Al-Hasban, the Vice Dean Dr. Mohammad Al-Wahsh, and the Head of the Department Dr. Wesam Jarar, along with a group of students from the faculty.
The workshop, which lasted for two days, aimed to build and enhance the capabilities of the Faculty of Pharmacy students in the fields of awareness and health education, through an integrated training program that combined theoretical and practical aspects. It included interactive activities, case studies, and practical exercises, focusing on enabling the participants to apply scientific concepts in real-life situations that mirror field work in health awareness.
The training program covered several main themes, most notably health promotion concepts, disease prevention, cancer and tobacco control axes, harms of using tobacco and nicotine products, addiction mechanisms, and ways to quit, in addition to developing effective communication skills in the fields of awareness and health education.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the participating students, who showed clear interest in the scientific content and practical training methods, contributing to honing their skills and enhancing their readiness to actively participate in spreading health awareness among various community groups.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Dean Professor Dr. Alaa Al-Hasban emphasized the college's continuous commitment to organizing quality training programs that contribute to preparing scientifically and professionally qualified students and enhancing the role of Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan in serving the community and advancing public health.
