Khaberni - Mohannad Al-Khatib, advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit, said that the submission of undergraduate applications for those who passed the results of the supplementary examination for the general secondary education certificate will begin on Tuesday and will last for 4 days.
Al-Khatib added to "Al-Mamlaka" that the submission of applications for the intermediate diploma stage will begin on Wednesday and will also last for 4 days.
He explained that the Higher Education Council decided to admit about 15,431 students in the undergraduate stage, and 3,664 students in the intermediate diploma stage.
He mentioned that the applications for both the undergraduate and intermediate diploma stages will be submitted "electronically" through the website of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit, and that the application fees will be paid through the "eFAWATEERcom" electronic payment service.
Al-Khatib explained that there are specialties not offered in the unified admission program, including "medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and other specialties due to the full capacity," as attributed by the Accreditation Authority to the Higher Education Council.
He pointed out the presence of 368 majors offered for the undergraduate stage in official universities, and there are 95 majors offered in the intermediate diploma stage.
Al-Khatib confirmed that the Higher Education Council urged universities to focus on specialties related to future technology, clarifying that the council is keen on ensuring that there is no overabundance in these specialties to prevent them from becoming quickly saturated and stagnant.
