Khaberni - The Internal Security Directorate in the Syrian city of Tartus managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle a shipment containing dangerous materials, namely scorpion venom and zinjibar powder, and arrested all individuals involved in the network.
The operation was based on precise intelligence information, prompting security units to conduct a field raid that included intensive monitoring and surveillance, which resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals caught in possession of the entire smuggled quantity, according to the "Tartous Governorate" channel on the "Telegram" app.
These two substances (scorpion venom and zinjibar "mercury sulfide HgS"), pose a significant risk to public health and the environment, due to their high toxicity and their direct adverse effects on living organisms. The potential use of these substances in criminal activities or for harmful purposes makes their trafficking outside legal frameworks a direct threat to security and public safety.
The seized materials were confiscated according to legal procedures, while the involved parties were referred to the competent judiciary to complete the judicial proceedings against them and hold them accountable according to the law.
