Khaberni - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Administration of Coast Guard, announced the arrest of three individuals for engaging in poaching with a non-compliant boat under the issued permit and attempting to run over a security officer.
The Ministry stated in a press release today, Monday, that the details of the operation date back to the execution of the Coast Guard patrols for the routine maritime survey round, where a boat was spotted engaging in poaching in violation of the relevant conditions and regulations.
It added that when attempting to stop the boat’s captain, he did not comply with the orders issued by the security personnel and immediately fled, and a pursuit ensued until he reached the shore where he ascended to his vehicle trying to escape from the location noting that "during this, he attempted to run over a security officer but was controlled and arrested without any injuries occurring among the police force members."
The Ministry reported that the suspects are three individuals, one of them a citizen and two stateless who are recidivists, and it was revealed that the boat was not registered as a fishing boat, contrary to the issued permit, noting that based on legal procedures, the boat was confiscated, destroyed, and the individuals were referred to the competent authorities to take all necessary legal actions against them.
The Ministry (Interior) affirmed that anyone who tries to violate the law or threaten the safety of security personnel will not escape punishment, continuing to pursue violators with determination to preserve security and safety in the territorial waters.
