Khaberni - The Standards and Specifications Institution announced the start of its regulatory plan for the reception of the holy month of Ramadan and the joyful Eid al-Fitr, as part of its continuous tasks and efforts to ensure the safety and quality of products in the markets and to protect consumer rights.
The institution confirmed in a press statement on Monday that its inspection teams will intensify their regulatory rounds during and outside office hours, to include economic establishments in all governorates and districts of the kingdom, aiming to verify the conformity of products in the market to the technical rules and specific standard specifications.
The regulatory plan includes the execution of extensive inspection and field visits, targeting products that see increased demand prior and during the holy month, such as festive ropes and pre-packaged products like Ramadan juices and sweets. It will also intensify verification rounds of commercial scales in bakeries, butcheries, vegetable shops, and sweet shops; to prevent any transgressions that harm consumer rights.
The regulatory plan will also target intensified inspection rounds on sectors such as clothing, children's toys, cosmetics, as well as cooking utensils and electrical and household appliances, in addition to continuing inspections on gold and silver jewelry and bullion to ensure they match legal standards.
The statement indicated that the institution will continue its inspection rounds during the holy month to check fuel meter pumps at gas stations and the meters of fuel transport tankers, in addition to intensifying inspection rounds on gas cylinder fillers and distributors to verify the cylinders' weights and their safety for use.
The institution emphasizes that it will not hesitate to take all legal actions against violators, urging consumers to report any non-compliant product on the unified complaints phone and WhatsApp number 065301243 or the institution's website and its social media pages.
