Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, launched today, Monday, a field awareness campaign titled “Clean Path” at Al-Waha roundabout, as part of the executive program for the cleanliness strategy and the reduction of random waste disposal for the years (2026–2027), sponsored by the head of the Greater Amman committee, Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh, and the Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suliman.

The campaign, which saw participation from the staff of the Ministry of Environment, Greater Amman Municipality, and the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, Tla' Al-Ali Security Center, and community police, aims to raise environmental awareness among citizens and reduce the phenomenon of random waste disposal, and enhance community environmental responsibility within the framework of collaborative efforts.

The campaign includes the distribution of reusable bags to vehicles to encourage drivers not to throw wastes from the windows, in addition to installing suspended metal baskets on poles and sidewalks at the Al-Waha roundabout in all four directions, enhancing the provision of waste collection points and promoting proper environmental behavior.

Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh, head of the Greater Amman committee, emphasized that maintaining city cleanliness is a shared national responsibility, stressing the importance of integrating efforts between official institutions, the local community, and volunteers, contributing to the enhancement of the urban scene, promoting the image of Amman in front of its residents and visitors, and establishing a culture of respecting public spaces and not randomly throwing wastes.

Shawarbeh stated that the Greater Amman Municipality continues to implement field and awareness programs in line with the national strategy for cleanliness and reducing random waste disposal, aligning with Jordan’s national commitments in environmental sustainability and public health protection.

In turn, Dr. Ayman Suliman, the Minister of Environment, confirmed that launching this campaign represents a practical step to enhance the sustainability of general cleanliness and reduce negative practices associated with waste disposal, noting that cooperation between official institutions and the local community is a fundamental pillar for the success of these efforts.
