Khaberni - The teams of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority's Internal Control Directorate executed a large security campaign this morning, Monday, February 9, 2026, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Public Security Directorate/West Balqa Police Chief, the Central and Middle Gendarmerie Forces, the Royal Environmental Protection Administration, the National Electric Power Company, and the Energy Sector Regulatory Commission. The campaign took place in the Southern Shuna - Western Housing area, accompanied by the Water Basins Directorate and the Central Workshops Directorate to control and fill unauthorized wells, and remove repeat infringements on water sources. The campaign resulted in the detection and control of an unauthorized well dug on state-owned lands, illegally infringing by extracting water, operating a water desalination station and extending lines to sell water to the public and farms in a non-compliant manner, and illegally drawing electricity from main lines to supply the desalination station.
In details, it was based on available information that the campaign was coordinated and the site was raided on Monday morning where the unauthorized well was controlled, the desalination station and 4 large pumps were seized, 3 main electricity breakers removed, the drawn lines and electrical infringements were removed, the unauthorized well was filled, and all infringements removed. Specific reports related to the campaign were prepared and documentation was referred to relevant authorities to complete legal procedures.
The Water Authority confirmed that its campaign and efforts with the Ministry of Interior, the Public Security Directorate, and other entities will continue in all regions, and maximum penalties will be enforced against anyone daring to tamper with water resources. The authority expressed appreciation for the significant support from the Public Security Directorate, especially the West Balqa Police Chief, the Middle Gendarmerie Director, and all its officers and personnel, as well as citizens who report such infringements.
