Suffered from chronic illnesses Death of the Egyptian artist Abdel Jawad Metwally

Khaberni - The Egyptian artist, Abdel Jawad Metwally, passed away today, Sunday, at the age of 87, after a long battle with illness.

A source close to the artist's family revealed that he had been suffering from some chronic diseases for a long time, including diabetes, hypertension, and some age-related diseases.


The source also added that Metwally had withdrawn from the artistic scene some time ago due to his health condition, and had been living with his family members who took care of him throughout his illness.

The source further clarified that the artist's condition worsened in the recent period, and he was admitted to the hospital for treatment several times until he breathed his last today.

About him
Abdel Jawad Metwally was born in 1939, and had a passion for art from an early age, although he did not work in it at the beginning of his life, and was occupied with a number of jobs until the opportunity came after years of searching.

Metwally participated in a large number of television works, including the series "Saber Ya Am Saber" with the artist Farid Shawqi produced in 1984, and the series "Tower of the Greats" in 1987, and "Souq Al-Asr" in 2001 with Ahmed Abdel Aziz and Mahmoud Yassin, and "Aunt Noor" in 2003 with Nabila Obaid and Ahmed El Fishawy.

He also made his mark in cinema through several films, notably "Ashmawi" which was released in 1987, and "Half a Dozen Crazies" in 1991 where he portrayed the character of Dr. Ezzat, the hospital director, and "A Woman Prone to Falling" produced in 1992, and "The Empress" in 1999.

He had been away from the artistic scene for several years due to his old age and exposure to many health crises.
