Khaberni - A tragic incident occurred at one of the branches of the "Olive Garden" restaurant chain in Pennsylvania, after a worker decided to end his life inside the kitchen, in a shocking accident that occurred in front of his colleagues, according to local police.
The authorities said that the incident took place inside one of the chain's branches in Williamsport, after the police received an emergency call on the evening of last Friday, reporting an emergency and a serious injury due to burns.
According to a recording of the emergency call, screams were heard inside the place, while the emergency officer informed the police of an "individual with severe burns", before later confirming that "a man had put his head into a large deep-fryer of hot oil".
Reports indicated that the worker was rushed to the hospital suffering from severe injuries, but he passed away due to his wounds, despite rescue attempts.
Another employee was also injured with burns while trying, along with several workers, to prevent him from harming himself, prompting a second ambulance to be sent to the scene to provide the necessary treatment for her.
Both the restaurant management and a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania police confirmed that the incident is being treated as an "attempted suicide", emphasizing that the authorities will not reveal any additional information "out of respect for the privacy of the deceased and his family".
The restaurant temporarily closed its doors following the incident, before reopening after several days.
