Khaberni - Radna Tsireen, a Mongolian athlete aged 91 years and 3 months, and the oldest participant in the "Masters Games – Abu Dhabi 2026," confirmed that his passion for sports is not age-related, emphasizing his continued practice of athletics with great faith and deep love for the sport.
Tsireen stated today after participating in the 100-meter race held at Zayed Sports City, where he finished second: "Age is just a number to me, and practicing sports is a part of my daily life. Yet, I am passionate about continuing to contribute and work daily."
About the challenges he faced during his career, he added: "I have faced many difficulties and obstacles, but I have always believed that success is my goal. I practice sports daily and persistently, and I am still convinced that perseverance is the key to success."
He said: "Sometimes I stumble, sometimes I continue, and sometimes I stop and then start again. There have been many attempts and efforts, some of which were incomplete, but I continued on the path."
Tsireen spoke about his interest in the younger generations, adding: "I am currently working on discovering and graduating young players starting from the age of 5, and I am preparing them step by step. They are the future, and we must prepare them from an early age. I don't care about the number, even if one or two or more players succeed, the important thing is that there is a promising new generation."
Regarding his diet, he said: "I used to follow a strict diet, but now with aging, I do not eat large amounts of food. Balanced nutrition combined with sports helps athletes continue and evolve. I focus on my work, wake up and start my day with training, and even in difficult times or when feeling tired, I make sure to follow a diet that serves my sports performance."
About his beginnings in athletics, Tsireen explained: "In the beginning, I relied completely on myself, spending thousands from my own money and efforts because this sport is my life. Since I was 10 years old, I have worked on developing myself without external support, and I have not treated sports as a hobby, but as a profession with full professionalism and conviction."
He confirmed that he is currently working with a group of players who have achieved many successes, and is organizing their work and guiding them based on his personal convictions, relying on many years of experience and competition.
He mentioned that his father was his first supporter, and his advice was the foundation of his career, leading him to the continuity and success he has achieved.
Radna Tsireen is considered one of the most prominent runners in the "Masters" category worldwide, having achieved many accomplishments, especially after reaching his nineties, and his last achievement last year was winning 6 gold medals at the Indoor World Athletics Championships for Masters category, held in the United States, in addition to winning a gold medal at the "Masters Games" in Taipei.
His country also awarded him many medals and decorations in appreciation of his contributions to raising its flag at various tournaments and international forums throughout his sports career.
