Khaberni - A JetBlue flight from Philadelphia to Boston was halted for hours after the crew announced the plane could not take off due to the presence of waste in a broken toilet, according to passenger testimonies on board.
Hillary Coulter, one of the passengers, told "The Post": "We boarded the plane as usual, then were informed that there was a mechanical issue in the bathrooms and that we had to disembark."
She added that the passengers remained on board for an hour before they were disembarked amid repeated promises to solve the problem within 15 to 20 minutes, which were repeated several times to no avail.
Midday, gate staff announced that the real reason for the flight delay was the presence of waste in the broken toilet, and that the crew was not prepared to remove it, causing astonishment and shock among the passengers.
Coulter noted that two passengers offered to clean the toilet themselves to ensure the flight's departure, but the offer was rejected by the crew.
The flight remained suspended for hours before JetBlue gave passengers the option to cancel their booking and get a refund or rebook on another flight, and Coulter chose to rebook, despite the ongoing delays due to bad weather in Boston.
The original flight was officially canceled on Saturday afternoon, disrupting the plans of many travelers, including those who had connecting flights or were awaited by their families at the airport.
