Khaberni - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi revealed on Sunday that he refused a US request to have the commander of "CENTCOM" (the commander of the US Central Command) present during the greeting exchange, with the American negotiating delegation in Oman led by President Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, but we categorically refused this.
Araghchi stated in press remarks on Saturday that a handshake took place between the negotiating delegations on Friday in Muscat.
He confirmed that no date has been set for a new round of talks with the United States as of yet, despite statements by the American president on Saturday that the next round could be next week.
Araghchi described the negotiating round in Muscat as "a positive start", but stressed it requires time and effort to build the necessary trust to achieve tangible results.
He continued: There is currently no set date for a second round of negotiations, but we and Washington believe it should be held soon. Although the negotiations were indirect, they provided an opportunity for a handshake with the American delegation.
