Khaberni - The Ministry of Health confirmed that the results of the laboratory tests conducted on several beneficiaries of the Al-Ais Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tafila Governorate showed on Sunday that the cause of the respiratory infections is the respiratory syncytial virus.
The Ministry stated that 5 cases are still receiving medical care at Tafila Government Hospital, all in stable condition, while 6 cases have left the hospital after their health improved yesterday evening, confirming that no new cases have been registered.
The Ministry clarified that it has established a treatment protocol for cases infected with the respiratory syncytial virus and any secondary bacterial infections if found, noting that the respiratory syncytial virus is one of the common respiratory viruses, transmitted through respiratory droplets or direct contact, and typically causes symptoms including upper respiratory tract inflammation, usually ranging from mild to moderate, especially when treated early and according to approved medical guidelines.
The Ministry indicated that the Minister of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour, has directed to send another team concerned with infection control and health education to Tafila Governorate to enhance infection control measures and raise the level of knowledge about the transmission mechanism of the respiratory syncytial virus among service providers, the rapid response teams, and the crisis cell continues to monitor the health situation at the shelter center.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that the health situation is under control and does not call for concern, urging adherence to general hygiene and respiratory prevention measures, especially in places of gathering and care homes.
