AlBakkar opens a production branch in Balama to employ 150 Jordanians

Khaberni  -  Today, Sunday, Minister of Labor Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar inaugurated a new production branch in Balama district in Mafraq Governorate for the manufacture of ready-made clothing to employ 60 Jordanian men and women from the district in the first stage, with an aim to reach 150 Jordanians by the end of the current year, raising the number of production branches in the kingdom to 36.

The inauguration of the production branch was attended by Mafraq Governor Firas Abu Ghannam, the Chairman of the Board of the company operating the branch "Jerash for Garment Manufacturing" Shui Ling Hang, the Head of Balama District Municipal Committee Engineer Yanal Houbash, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry Ibrahim Al-Saket, the Acting General Manager of the Vocational Training Institution Engineer Ra'fat Al-Sawafin, and a number of local dignitaries.

Dr. Al-Bakkar stated that the establishment and operation of production branches are a Royal initiative implemented by the ministry since 2008, providing operational support to investors through the Fund for Supporting Educational and Vocational Training Activities and Skills Development. He mentioned that the support includes covering 50% of the minimum wage for each worker, allocating 25 dinars for transportation and contributing 25 dinars monthly to social security subscriptions for each worker.

He explained that the creation of production branches aims to localize development in the deserts, rural areas, and camps in the districts and councils of the kingdom's governorates, enabling Jordanian youth, both males and females, to obtain jobs near their residence, as well as equipping them with needed skills via the Vocational Training Institution.

The Minister emphasized that the primary partner in establishing and expanding the production branches is the private sector, which the government works to empower to provide more job opportunities for Jordanian youth, appreciating the role of Balama Municipality in preparing the site to set up the production branch within its boundaries.

In turn, the Head of Balama District Municipal Committee Engineer Yanal Houbash appreciated the role of the Ministry of Labor in empowering the private sector to provide job opportunities for Jordanians in the governorates, noting that the municipalities play a developmental role, thus Balama Municipality offered assistance.

It is noted that the agreement to operate the garment production branch in Balama district was signed at the Ministry of Labor last month.
