Sudden Sweating May Be a Warning Sign of a Serious Health Issue

Khaberni - Dr. Natalia Solovyova, a cardiologist, reported that excessive sweating without a clear cause may not just be a feeling of discomfort, but it could indicate the presence of serious cardiovascular diseases.
She said that the most concerning scenario is the appearance of cold, clammy sweat, shivering, and skin coolness, which is a natural response of the nervous system to extreme stress in the body. This condition often accompanies compressive or burning pain behind the breastbone, extending to the shoulder blade or lower jaw, along with nausea and dizziness, and could indicate a myocardial infarction. She added that individuals with diabetes or high cholesterol should contact emergency services immediately if these symptoms appear, as any delay could be very dangerous.

As for patients suffering from ischemic heart disease, severe sweating accompanied by chest pain could indicate unstable angina, a prelude to myocardial infarction that requires immediate hospitalization. Chronic sweating, especially at night, along with increasing weakness and fatigue, may indicate myocarditis or endocarditis, which often develop after diseases such as tonsillitis, pneumonia, or influenza.

Solovyova emphasized that sweating is rarely the only symptom of heart problems, stressing that if it appears suddenly and acutely, immediate medical help should be sought. However, if the sweating is consistently regular without sharp pain, but with the presence of risk factors or a recent infection, a comprehensive medical examination is advised.
