Khaberni - Four people were killed and another was seriously injured when a public security officer opened fire on them last Saturday in the Syrian province of Sweida.
In the town of Al-Matouna in the rural area of Sweida, Brigadier General Hussam Al-Tahan, head of internal security in the province, said: "In a tragic incident in the region, a heinous crime occurred against 5 citizens of the area, resulting in the death of 4 and serious injuries to another."
Al-Tahan stated in a statement through the official accounts of the Syrian Interior Ministry: "Preliminary investigations and in cooperation with one of the survivors of the shooting revealed that one of the suspects is an officer from the Directorate of Internal Security in the area, who was immediately detained and referred for investigation to complete the legal procedures."
The head of internal security in the province of Sweida offered "heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims," emphasizing that any violation against citizens is absolutely unacceptable and that there will be no tolerance for any act that threatens the security and safety of the residents.
