Galant Netanyahu is a liar and stabs our soldiers in the back

Khaberni - Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing him as a "liar", related to his publication of a document including justifications for failures that preceded the October 7, 2023 attack, which was widely perceived within Israel as an unprecedented security, intelligence, military, and political failure.

Netanyahu had published - late on Thursday evening - responses provided to the State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman regarding the events of October 7 and prior, noting that he submitted these responses at the end of 2025.

According to Israeli media, the Prime Minister renewed his evasion of responsibility for the failures, blaming the military and previous governments.

According to the same sources, Netanyahu sought, by publishing excerpts from government and security discussion records, to imply that security and political officials opposed taking decisive steps against Hamas or underestimated the threat they pose to Israel, presenting himself, in contrast, as pushing for the assassination of the movement’s leaders and preparing for broader options in Gaza Strip.

In response to these justifications, Galant said - in an interview with the private Channel 12 Hebrew channel on Saturday - "We have a Prime Minister who is a liar… while our soldiers were dying, he chose to stab them in the back".

Incitement against the security establishment
Former Israeli Defense Minister considered the timing of the documents' publication as part of blaming others and inciting against security establishment leaders.

Galant added that Netanyahu - contrary to what he claims - did not support the assassination of the former Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, accusing him of adopting a policy based on transferring funds to Hamas under the pretext that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas refuses to pay for Gaza.

In the same context, Galant noted that ministers in Netanyahu's government attacked military leaders during the sessions of the security cabinet, confirming that he did not allow that to pass.

Netanyahu - so far - refuses to establish an official investigation committee into the events of October 7, amid accusations of seeking to evade responsibility for what transpired, while he continues to blame the military and intelligence services.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas and Palestinian factions launched "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation, targeting 11 military bases and 22 settlements, stating that it was intended to "end the unjust siege on Gaza ongoing for 18 years, thwart the plans to eliminate the Palestinian cause and imposing sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque".

Since the attack, several military, security, and political leaders in Israel have announced their personal responsibility for the failure to prevent the operation, while Netanyahu continues to reject any direct responsibility.
