Khaberni - At least seven people were killed in an explosion that occurred on Saturday at a biotechnological plant in northern China, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
The agency quoted local authorities saying that one person is still missing since the explosion occurred at Jiabing Biotechnology Company in Shanxi province, about 400 kilometers west of Beijing.
Xinhua indicated that search and rescue operations are still ongoing at the site.
The explosion occurred early Saturday morning, and investigations into its causes are ongoing.
Industrial accidents are common in China, most of which are attributed to non-compliance with safety standards.
In late January, an explosion at a steel plant in the neighboring region of Inner Mongolia killed at least nine people.
