Khaberni - The French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office stated today, Saturday, that an investigation has been opened involving Jack Lang, the president of the Arab World Institute in Paris, former Minister of Culture, and his daughter Caroline, regarding their relationships with Jeffrey Epstein, the American billionaire who committed suicide and who was convicted of sex crimes and trafficking minors.
A statement from the office confirmed that an investigation will be conducted with Lang (86 years old), the former French Minister of Culture during the presidency of François Mitterrand, and his daughter on charges of "money laundering" related to revenues from tax evasion due to suspicious financial relationships with Epstein.
French media reports stated that Lang had repeatedly contacted Epstein to seek money or services, while his daughter’s name appears in the files of an offshore company partially owned by the convicted American businessman.
Today, Saturday, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Lang has resigned from his position as president of the Arab World Institute, a decision he made under political pressure due to his relationships with Jeffrey Epstein.
On Monday, his daughter Caroline Lang resigned from her position as the head of the "Independent Producers Union" in cinema and television.
A Reuters review of documents concluded that Lang's name appeared more than 600 times in Epstein's files. However, the man who spent about 20 years as Minister of Culture and Education in various governments, denied any knowledge of Epstein's crimes, despite the latter being convicted in 2008 of enticing a minor into prostitution.
After the files were revealed, scrutiny increased regarding Epstein’s relationships with global public figures, including the British Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles, and Peter Mandelson, the former British Ambassador to the United States.
