Khaberni - Algeria has officially started the process of cancelling the air service agreement signed with the United Arab Emirates, according to what was reported by the official Algerian news agency.
The agency reported that these procedures will cancel the agreement signed in Abu Dhabi on May 13, 2013, and ratified by a presidential decree issued on December 30, 2014.
According to article 22 of the agreement, Algeria must notify the UAE party of the cancellation decision through diplomatic channels, in parallel with notifying the Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to complete the legal and regulatory procedures that are internationally implemented.
No immediate details were issued regarding the reasons for the decision and its timing, nor was there any Emirati comment on the Algerian move, at a time when it is expected to have implications for air travel and aviation cooperation between the two countries in the upcoming period.
