Khaberni - A young man in the Iraqi capital Baghdad resorted to a professional method of fraud to raise money by deliberately setting his car on fire in public roads, aiming to elicit sympathy from citizens and collect donations under this pretext.
Security forces arrested the young man who burned his car in one of Baghdad's streets, claiming it was involved in an accident to collect money and donations in an illegal way.
The Baghdad al-Karkh police headquarters confirmed in an official statement that the suspect was detained following the discovery of his act, and he was referred to the competent authorities for taking the necessary legal measures against him.
The Ministry of Interior published a video on its official Facebook page showing the moment the suspect was arrested without revealing his identity, and with him was a sum of money he had collected from citizens by exploiting this trick.
The video showed the car was completely burned and its doors and seats were smashed, as a result of its owner's failed attempt to scam and defraud the citizens.
