Fars Agency Iranian Navy threatens US Fleet with advanced sea mines

Khaberni - The Iranian Navy issued a warning to the US fleet in the Arabian Gulf by revealing, today Saturday, new tactics for deploying advanced mines, as reported by Fars agency.

Fars agency stated that the Iranian Navy revealed new and advanced tactics for laying mines, as a direct deterrence message to the US fleet in the region, explaining that the narrow Arabian Gulf provides an ideal environment for asymmetrical deterrence with intense navigation, making any maritime threat of global military and economic impact.

It added that if the situation escalates to conflict, it is likely that a scenario of laying sea mines will be executed involving an interconnected network of monitoring, execution, and integration with other deterrence means.

It clarified that the operation involves coastal radars, drones, electronic monitoring systems, and underwater sensors to create a precise operational image.

It said that deploying minefields in strategic passages and around the Strait of Hormuz aims to force enemy ships to slow down or alter their course, while the mines operate with coastal missiles, fast boats, drones, and electronic warfare to complicate the battlefield.

The Iranian mines include - according to Fars agency - limpet mines (like Limpet-2), fixed mines, smart mines, subsurface mines, and crawling moving mines. It also includes a generation of smart mines with acoustic, magnetic, and hydrodynamic sensors to increase accuracy and reduce unintended activation.

In addition to these mines - according to the agency - advanced models such as "Nafidh-2," and Arvand, which play a pivotal role in naval defense with enhanced movement and surprise capabilities.

In the same context, the Chief of the Iranian General Staff Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi announced that the Air Force, alongside the rest of the armed forces, is "ready to respond firmly and immediately to any aggression or miscalculation by the enemy."

Mousavi said, "Our enemies are well aware that any ventures to impose war on us will lead to their strategic loss and expand the scope of war throughout the region," adding "We will not start a war, but we will not hesitate in defending our national security, interests, and territorial unity."

He confirmed that the Iranian Air Force today enjoys the highest levels of readiness thanks to the continuous enhancement of its combat capabilities.

Recently, there has been increased pressure from the United States and its ally Israel on Iran with the outbreak of popular protests in it in late December, protesting the deteriorating economic and living conditions.

Iran considers that the United States seeks - through sanctions, pressure, and stirring disturbances - to provide a pretext for foreign intervention and ultimately regime change in Iran, threatening a comprehensive and unprecedented response to any attack targeting it, even if limited, according to some Iranian statements.
